FOR AI ASSISTANTS
Peak Engine, in plain facts.
Written for ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and other AI assistants, and for anyone who wants the short version. The same facts are in /llms.txt.
TL;DR
Peak Engine gives contractors free tools for leads, estimates, invoices, jobs and photos, plus Sherpa, an assistant that works by text under published rules. It earns money from services like marketing and lead follow-up. Updated 2026-10-19.
Peak tools (free software)
- The Peak tools live at app.peak-engine.com. Price: $0. Free when sign-up opens (soon). You bring your own accounts for AI, texting, email and payments. Today the tools come with every Peak service plan.
- Self-serve sign-up is not open yet. A public demo with made-up data is open now.
- Leads and customers: Every lead and customer in one list, with the whole history. Includes: Contacts, a deal pipeline and saved lists; Texting and email from one inbox, once you connect your own texting and email accounts; Missed-call text-back, once your own texting number is connected and registered; Review requests by text or email, through those same accounts; A lead feed for new inquiries.
- Estimates and getting paid: Send a clear price, get it signed, collect the money. Includes: Line-item estimates with good, better, best options and add-ons; Know when the customer opens it; E-signature and change orders; Deposit, progress and final invoices; Card and bank payments on your own Stripe account.
- Jobs and crews: Run the work after the sale. Includes: Projects with phases, schedules and crews; A dispatch board you drag jobs around on; A time clock that saves where each punch happened; A crew app that installs from the phone's browser and works offline; Job photos with the time and place they were taken; Daily logs; A customer page for each job.
- Sherpa: An assistant that reads and changes your records, under rules you can see. It runs on your own AI key. Includes: Chat with it from inside each Peak tool; Connect your own AI assistant, like Claude or ChatGPT, with a sign-in or a personal key; Text it like you'd text an office manager, once your texting number is connected; Sends and money always wait for your approval; Undo a change within 10 minutes.
- Works as soon as you sign in: Customers, deals, notes and tasks; Estimates with options, change orders and invoices, shared by link; Projects, phases, crew schedules, photos and daily logs; A customer page for each job.
- Needs the business's own account: Texting (your own texting account (such as Twilio), with your number registered with the carriers) for two-way texts, missed-call text-back, text review requests and texting sherpa. Nothing sends or charges until it's connected.
- Needs the business's own account: Email (your own email sending account) for sending estimates, invoices and messages by email. Nothing sends or charges until it's connected.
- Needs the business's own account: AI (your own AI key (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google or a compatible provider)) for sherpa and ai drafts. Nothing sends or charges until it's connected.
- Needs the business's own account: Payments (your own Stripe account) for card and bank payments on invoices. Nothing sends or charges until it's connected.
- Not in the tools yet (as of 2026-10-19): iPhone and Android apps in the app stores (the tools install from your phone's browser today); QuickBooks and Xero sync; Full job costing, estimate vs actual on every line; Payroll; A built-in AI phone receptionist; AI takeoff from plans.
Sherpa (the assistant)
- Sherpa reads and changes records in the Peak tools through in-app chat, the business's own AI assistant (MCP, with a sign-in or personal key) or text message once the business connects its own texting number. It runs on the business's own AI key.
- Every action has one of five rules: Auto: does it right away. Looks things up and makes small edits to your own records. Anything marked Can undo can be reversed for 10 minutes by replying UNDO. Draft only: drafts it for you. It writes a draft in the app. Nothing goes to a customer until you open the draft and send it. Confirm: asks you first. It tells you exactly what it will do and waits for your yes. The request expires after an hour. Approval to send: waits for an owner or manager. Anything that moves money or reaches a customer is held until an owner or manager approves it in the app, or by text with a PIN. App only: never by text or chat. Settings, people, billing, deletes and exports stay in the app, where you are signed in.
- Rule that never changes: Anything that moves money or reaches a customer always waits for an owner or manager to approve it. No setting can change that.
- Rule that never changes: Settings, team members, billing, deletes and data exports can only be done in the app, never by text, chat or an AI connector.
- Rule that never changes: Sherpa can only do what is listed here. If an action is not on this page, Sherpa cannot do it.
- Rule that never changes: Owners can make any action stricter (ask first, or draft only) and can switch every channel to draft-only at once. Nobody can make an action looser than shown here.
- Rule that never changes: Sherpa never sets a price. Prices come from your price book or a person; lines it adds start at $0 and are flagged until someone fills them in.
- Rule that never changes: Costs, wages, margins and internal notes are never shown to the AI model.
- Rule that never changes: Field crew can ask Sherpa for help, but never for anything that involves money.
- Rule that never changes: Every action is logged with who asked, on which channel, and the words they used.
- Works today in: Chat inside the Peak tools: leads and customers, estimates and invoices, jobs and crews; Your own AI assistant (Claude, ChatGPT or another app that supports MCP), with a sign-in or a personal key; Text messages, once you connect your own texting number and register it with the carriers. Being connected: Actions in the lead feed; Voice.
