Authenticator App and Remembered Devices

Add an authenticator app to your Peak sign-in, save your backup codes, and skip the code for 7 days on a device you trust.

Who needs one

Owners and agency staff need an authenticator app, because their accounts can change a whole business. Until you add one, Peak sends you to Sign-in & security to set it up. Anyone can add one, and we recommend it.

You enter a code once each time you sign in. That one check covers every Peak tool. The demo never asks for a code.

Add an authenticator app

It takes about 2 minutes. You need your phone with an authenticator app on it, like Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, 1Password, Authy or Apple Passwords.

  1. Open the account menu and choose "Sign-in & security".
  2. Click "Set up authenticator".
  3. If it's been more than 15 minutes since you signed in, Peak asks you to confirm it's you. Enter your current password and click "Continue", or choose "Sign in again".
  4. Scan the QR code with your app. Can't scan? Click "Copy key" and paste it into the app. "Steps for your app" shows where to tap in each one.
  5. Click "I've added it".
  6. Save your 10 backup codes with "Copy codes" or "Download". Tick "I saved my backup codes somewhere safe", then click "Continue".
  7. Type the 6-digit code from the app and click "Turn on". You'll see "Authenticator is on".

Nothing changes until you click "Turn on". If you cancel partway, your sign-in stays as it was.

We email you whenever your sign-in settings change: an authenticator added or removed, new backup codes, or a new password. If you didn't make the change, use the "Reset my password" button in that email.

Backup codes

  • Each backup code works once. Use one if you lose your phone: choose "Use a backup code" on the code screen.
  • Need more? On Sign-in & security, click "New backup codes". The old ten stop working.
  • Keep them somewhere other than your phone, like a password manager or a printed sheet.

Remember this device for 7 days

On a phone or computer only you use, tick "Remember this device for 7 days" when you enter your authenticator code. Peak skips the code check on that device for the next 7 days. The 7 days start when you tick it and don't renew as you use it.

This skips the once-per-sign-in check. If you sign in with a password, Peak still asks for your second step every time.

  1. To forget a device, open Sign-in & security.
  2. Find the "Remembered devices" card. It lists each device and when its 7 days end.
  3. Click "Forget this device".

A new password, a new or removed authenticator, or signing out everywhere forgets every remembered device at once.

If a code doesn't work

  • "That code didn't match" usually means your phone's clock is off. Set it to update automatically, then use the newest code.
  • After 10 wrong codes, wait 15 minutes. After 50 wrong codes in a day, try again tomorrow.
  • Lost your phone and your backup codes? Email hello@peak-engine.com from your account's email address.

Something here doesn't match what you see? Email hello@peak-engine.com and we'll fix it.

QUESTIONS

Common questions.

You can remove it on Sign-in & security with "Remove authenticator". If you're an owner or agency staff, Peak will ask you to set one up again before you can open your workspace.

Security changes need your password or a sign-in from the last 15 minutes. That stops someone using a computer you left signed in.
